Coder

Our office is in need of a well-experience coder who knows how to read,
look and identify modifiers on diagnosis or ICD-9 codes and CPT4 codes
procedures used by providers and insurance companies. Both diagnosis
and procedure codes are used on HCFA-1500 Form to bill claims for health
care providers.


Position: Coder

Duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for reviewing and checking for any errors on any claim form or
superbill form in  diagnosis and procedure codes,  identify modifiers on diagnosis
or ICD-9 Codes and CPT4 Codes Procedures used by providers and insurance
companies.

Gather data, information, new updates and inform health care providers for any
changes on diagnosis or procedure codes.

Responsible for checking codes to avoid down coding and maximize reimbursement.

Responsibilities include speaking on the phone with life insurance applicants to
obtain health and applicant information. Data entry, monitor on line orders, taking
orders from agents and scheduling paramedical services.

Scheduling and making appointments for pre-set paramedical examinations,
confirmation of bar code, case work sheet tracking and review of lab slip report.

Designate case or work order assignment to phlebotomist / field examiner and
monitor the progress of the assigned task for completion.


Qualifications:

Must have a Medical degree or coder certificate or any equivalent.

Must have at least 1 year minimum experience on medical and dental coding
procedures.

Must have some knowledge on how to process insurance claims on paper claims
and electronic claims, make reimbursement and soft strategies on collection
follow-up.

Must have knowledge  on medical and dental benefits on different insurance
carriers and government health agencies.

Must have knowledge on how to operate and use computers and software
applications on Medisoft, Alta vista, Dr. Leonard or any medical billing softwares.

Must be proficient and have good communication skill, tact and dependable in all
areas of responsibilities.

Must be able to meet the above duties and responsibilities with excellence and high
level of expectation.

Must be able to drive  with drivers license and have means of transportation, in
cases we  need to pick-up charge slip and superbill on provider's office or clinic.

Must be willing to work in a full-time, part-time or on call basis. And may be required
to work on weekdays and holidays as may be deemed necessary.

Must posses good attitude, good human interaction, good human relationship and
willing to accept new challenges and complete the task whenever possible.

Must be able to type at least 35-45 wpm and have knowledge on use and
application of MS office suite.
